On Saturday, March 4th, Eldonna (Hartley) Koval chaired a committee of about 18 of our 1973 classmates at the Barberton Library and on ZOOM.
Eldonna has a ton of great experience organizing events over the years and our 50th reunion should be a tremendous Blast!
We discussed topics including music, catering, decorations, remembrance of our dearly departed classmates, games, trivia, surprises, and of course costs.
Luckily, a lot of pre-planning was done over a year ago and the Lake Anna Hall was reserved at a decent fee before inflation started raising its ugly head and before prices started skyrocketing. So, we got a bargain on the Lake Anna Hall. In addition, the Waterloo restaurant catering service recently reduced their fee for us by about $4 per person!
We've come a long way from an original estimate of about $135 per person (because of so many unknowns in 2021). Now we're closing in on a ticket price under $70 per person.
And that covers the Lake Anna Hall, Lake Anna Gazebo across the street, food catering, decorations, music, and the Tuscora Park rental, and more! We've received some donations and we might reduce the ticket price or leave a little extra money for a donation to a BHS student, or a charity, or something. We're not trying to make a profit -- just break even and have the greatest experiences and best value for the least expense.
Ed Niehaus and David Olds will be the EMCEES!
Pastor Paul Watson of the Livingstone Church will lead us in prayer for our departed friends!
Rona (Scott) Morehead and Jan Glunt will make a REMEMBRANCE POSTER to honor our passed friends!
Frank Smrdel is a genius with photos and videos, so he's putting together a reunion video. If you have any photos from BHS 1973, send them to frsmrdel@gmail.com
Jan Glunt is making her famous NUT ROLLS!
Erin (Mackey) Rader is making PURPLE AND WHITE frosted CUPCAKES!
We have a surprise MASCOT and DEEJAY!
Other committee members are donating their time and energy to make this the best ever reunion, so tell all your friends.
And lots more stuff is coming.
As someone commented last year, "A 50th reunion should be mandatory!"
Regards,
Steve Edwards
